“Shen” Charitable Non-Governmental Organization

“Shen” Charitable NGO was established in 1988 with the aim of addressing urgent humanitarian and development challenges in Armenia. For more than 30 years the organization has been implementing rural development programs across Armenia, contributing to the socio-economic empowerment of remote and vulnerable communities.

The organization’s work focuses on integrated rural development, agricultural and economic development, improvement of community infrastructure, capacity building, and strengthening community-based organizations. “Shen” has implemented development initiatives in more than 370 rural communities of Armenia, with a strong emphasis on community participation and long-term sustainability.

Within its environmental activities, “Shen” promotes sustainable agricultural practices, responsible management of natural resources, and the introduction and development of agroforestry initiatives. The organization works to make rural communities more attractive places to live and work by transferring knowledge and skills, creating opportunities, and empowering local communities.

As a member organization of the Forest Alliance of Armenia, “Shen” contributes its experience in community development and sustainable approaches to advancing forest protection, ecosystem resilience, and the sustainable future of rural Armenia.
